Understanding Ballistic Impact Ratings and G Force
After calibrating your weight to the right stilt, the next thing is to pick out the the type of G force you want. (or just take my quiz and I can figure it out based on your answers)

Before answering this, are you buying stilts to do stunts and flips, or just to exercise and jog around the park. Or do you want to build your bone density and do low bouncing to increase lymphatic movement to move toxins out of the body and all the acidity that the fat is holding to keep away from the organs.

There is a difference. Some of the springs allow you to bounce higher and have more "free" bounces and others require you to do more work to get it. Some have more ballistic impact at, just say jumping at 4 feet in the air and others remove more. If you are buying stilts just for fun then it probably won't be a concern about getting a pair that has higher g forces at lower amplitudes.

3 G forces is the optimal force that is needed to fully open and close the 1-way valves in the lymphatic vessels but if it requires being air born too long then it can slow down the hydraulic pump you are trying to create. The easiest way to notice is the type of smell your body is giving off after a workout. Do you have a lot of water based sweat from getting a cardio workout or do you have the oily, sebaceous sweat from activating the lymphatic glands that make your arm pits smell because of all the wastes being eliminated. Many people buy these for lymphatic drainage. But most of the people that buy from me just want to do tricks and have fun.

To avoid ballistic impact, the best ones have a linear impact and not jarring at the bottom because the spring bottomed out or even was too stiff because you bought the wrong tension.

If someone is 140 pounds, for example, and they wanted to use these for mainly doing low bouncing, they might get a higher tension spring so they can get 3 g forces at the low amplitudes.

The way I decide on which stilts will give the least ballastic impact the way I want to bounce is to find out how many G forces it will give with the least amplitude and count the number of bounces I get per minute at that amplitude. The less G forces usually means the less firm it will be and less jarring at high bouncing. Know also that you can sacrifice G force from "free" bounces for extra energy exertion. I know it gets tricky picking out the right pair of stilts because most people aren't going to dissect every pair of stilts and find engineers in the phone book and go over there and pay 175 to 200 an hour to get answers to questions.

Another concern about ballistic impact is that when the spring is too soft and gives little resistance it usually means no results. If your body is capable of working out with 100 pounds, why would you lift a 5 pound weight for 2 hours? NO. You would get zero results and waste 2 hours. On the other hand, if the spring is too firm you can jar your body at higher amplitudes. The ballistic impact might be a risk to your knees and back. It is not something you notice with the first bounce, it is gradual and many people notice it over time from buying the wrong type for their needs. So, know what your goal is first. Cardio workouts, building muscle, bone density, or just moving all the toxins out of the body by moving the lymph from low bouncing.

Take my quiz to see which stilts are best for you. Please tell me your reasons for buying in the bottom part of the quiz.
...Because I had to buy 3 pairs until one fit.
